Obituary for Frederick L. Fenton Sr.

Frederick L. Fenton, Sr., 76, of Philipsburg, went home to be with the Lord at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 27, 2019. Born December 11, 1942 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Fred & Almeda G. (Williams) Fenton. Fred was a 1960 graduate of Philipsburg Osceola High School and attended the Philadelphia College of Bible. A life-long member of the First Baptist Church, Fred had served as a Deacon, an Elder and as church secretary. He enjoyed computing, music, travels, camping, working in his yard and family gatherings. A veteran of the US Air Force, Fred served during the Vietnam Era. He retired after 21 years as a Senior Master Sergeant and had received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Air Force Longevity Service Award with a retirement discharge. On September 9, 1964 in Lewistown, Montana, he married Margaret V. Fry, who survives at home. Also surviving are children Lois Rea and her husband J. Andrew of Philipsburg, Frederick L. Fenton Jr. and his wife Erin of Warriors Mark, Laura Karn and her husband Nathan Sr. of Hollidaysburg and James D. Fenton of Philipsburg; 13 Grandchildren Rebekah Diehl and her husband Alfred, Abigail Rea, Joshua Rea, Gwendolyn Fenton, Owen Fenton, Evan Fenton, Lilly Fenton, Abigail Karn, Nathan Karn Jr., Gideon Karn, Eric Fenton, Jonah Fenton and Robert Fenton; and two brothers Larry J. Fenton and his wife Sharon of Hummelstown and David K. Fenton and his wife Penny of Dubois. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Friday, February 1, from 6 to 9pm. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 214 E. Beaver St., Philipsburg, on Saturday, February 2 at 10am with Pastor Ted G. Seibert officiating. Fred will be laid to rest at Summit Hill Cemetery, Morrisdale, with full military honors. Memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, c/o the boiler fund, 214 E.
